FAQ

* What is Biologically Equivalent Hormone Replacement?

It is a hormone replacement that is an exact replica of the chemical structure that your own body produces.

* How do I know if I need to take Hormones?

Get an assessment by someone who specializes in hormones. Look at your hormone blood level if they are not in range this would be an indication. furthermore, if you are having symptoms of menopause or peri-menopause such as:
  • hot flashes
  • night sweats
  • not sleeping through the night
  • moodiness
  • cognitive problems
  • vaginal dryness
  • low libido / no sex drive
  • harder to reach climax
  • low energy
  • weight gain
Any of these would indicate that you may need hormone replacement.

* How long do I need to stay on hormone replacement?

Think of it like eating. Do you plan on eating for the rest of your life? It is the same thing. Your body needs hormones to fully function properly. You don't need as much as you did when you were 25 or 30 but you do want to maintain healthy tissue, cells and bones. So the answer would be for the rest of your life. Hormones give a great deal of protections in lowering risk factors for diseases and cancers we may develop in older years.

What is the best way for me to deliver the hormones to my body?

That would be for your hormone specialist and you to decide what is best for your body and life style.
(See choice of methods)

*Can Biologically Equivalent Hormones cause cancer?

Any Estrogen you add to your body and including your own estrogen before replacement can aid in causing estrogen related cancer. When treated properly the risk factors are very low. All risk factors should be discussed during consult. Make sure you inquire about that.
